The internal heat sink is another custom made part made of Aluminum that was then anodized. This part has two purposes:
- Cooling the air surrounding the DSLR inside the box.
- Offering a mechanical support both TEC and External Heat Sink.
The first one is pretty obvious. I am using a box which is made of low thermal conductivity materials. I need a heat exchanger to cool the air inside the box. Combined with a low CFM, low RPM, low vibration fan this custom made aluminum heat sink is light weight and will be used to recirculate (mix) the air which is the actual cooling material (fluid!) for the DSLR. The use of a fan also substantially decreases the time that is needed for the air to reach the temperature set with the temperature controller.
Its second purpose is to offer a solid mechanical structure for the retention of both the TEC and its hot side heat sink, each with its own set of threaded holes.
